Prue and the Dark Lighter
claudio_carvalho14 March 2007
Warning: Spoilers
Piper tells Leo that she loves him, but she will only tell Dan one week later, since he is traveling. Prue is interviewed by the photographer of a magazine, who assigns her for a test photographing Maggie Murphy, a woman considered with bad luck. Prue saves Maggie from her attempt of suicide induced by a dark lighter and casts a spell of good fortune to help the good-hearted Maggie. The irritated Darklighter decides to curse Prue, and when she is in her limit, she is saved by Piper and Phoebe. Meanwhile, Leo retrieves his powers to save Prue, becoming immortal again.

"Murphy's Luck" is a good episode of "Charmed", where Piper finally chooses Leo and Prue gets the job as a photographer. Arnold Vosloo makes a sinister dark lighter and the story is entertaining. My vote is nine.

Huge film location plot hole
NaughtyPine22 June 2021
Ok so this show has the manor filmed in LA's historical district pretending to be a house in San Francisco. I've always been able to buy that fact (despite having been to the house outside downtown LA). The thing that throws me about this episode is the filming of Prue on the bridge. You can see downtown LA clear as day several times during all the bridge scenes. This was sloppy editing. They could have filmed the scenes in a way that didn't show a city that looks nothing like San Francisco or anywhere near it.

Guardian Angel

Warning: Spoilers
Murphy's Luck is a favorite as Maggie Murphy attempts suicide because of bad luck following her thinking of Prue as a guardian Angel. Meanwhile a darklighter after her focuses his attention on the witch that saved her. I love Maggie Murphy finding her very vulnerable, sympathetic and wanting her life to turn around after the under world decided to ruin her after doing good. Her reference to Prue as a guardian Angel strike true as witches help people, protect them from evil and guide them when called for. The darklighter is unique in he only goes after those who have potential to be become whitelighters upon death and push them to suicide before they have a chance to. When Leo orbs him out to find out about others on his list I wonder what techniques they have to get information and if I'm not mistaken wouldn't it be dangerous to take him to the heavens since their arrows are poisonous.

Another factor is we learn Prue once attempted suicide when she was a teenager and was involved in an accident hurting Phoebe. Prue is always shown as strong, in charge, and accomplish anything she sets her mind to showing the viewers their is always hope for tomorrow to anyone. Very powerful message that I hope got through to the audience as it did to me since most who end their lives think today is all they have and problems won't go away.
