- Woody is meeting Kelly's mother, Roxanne Gaines, for the first time. Roxanne and Kelly's father, Walter, have been divorced for years, hence the reason why Woody has yet to meet her. He figures she's his last opportunity for someone in Kelly's family actually to like him. She does like him, a little too much as displayed by her tongue down his throat and the game of footsie she plays with him under the dinner table. At a dinner party at the Gaines household, Woody blurts out in front of all the dinner guests that he wants her to stop hitting on him. He thinks that act will ruin his relationship with Kelly. Contrary, Kelly believes that Woody has misinterpreted Roxanne's actions. Roxanne says as much to Kelly. Roxanne later makes her true intentions crystal clear. Meanwhile, one of Lillian's restaurants in Texas is closing down and is moving its unliquidatable inventory to its other properties. Cheers is the lucky recipient of a mechanical bull. Carla goads Cliff into riding the bull. Cliff ends up being close to setting a record he wishes he won't.—Huggo
- When the company that owns the Cheers bar has another property close up, the Cheers bar becomes saddled with a mechanical bull. Carly goads Cliff into riding it, and he soon becomes stuck riding it. Due to the high setting Cliff set it on, the gang can't just shut it off or Cliff could go flying to his doom (an idea Carla relishes with delight).
As Cliff's riding drags on for several hours, Rebecca and Carla find out that he has a chance to break the world-record for riding a mechanical bull. Though he yells to be let off, the gang still decides to keep him going to break the record.
Meanwhile, Woody attends a dinner at the Gaines family mansion, where he is introduced to Kelly's mother, Roxanne. Both Kelly's father and mother are separated, and it's one of the few times they have been together since. However, Woody grows rather scared when Kelly's mother begins to hit on him. When she begins to play 'footsie' with him at the dinner table, Woody loses his temper and yells out for her to stop it.
Later that evening, Kelly visits Woody at Cheers, saying that her family is used to her Mom flirting, as her Mom finds it a way to keep herself young. Kelly leaves Woody an apology note her Mom left, but the note is more of a love letter than an apology, unknown to Kelly.
