- After receiving a pair of baffling death threats, Tony initiates around-the-clock surveillance of his unsuspecting family
- After receiving a well-drawn picture of himself in a death threat, Tony suspects it to be the work of Si Prince, a psychotic and artist whom he sent to prison two years earlier. However, certain that Prince is still in prison, Tony is unnerved to discover another threat at his home. Meanwhile, Rachel takes on a class of six mentally disabled students, while Tony tries to jail a poacher for illegally killing a deer.
Though hoping to keep it quiet, the news of Tony's death threat scares his son David and prompts Rachel's brother Arnie to move out of the Scali home altogether. Tony then learns that Si Prince was recently paroled, while pressure from worried parents and the school administration force Rachel to take time off from her job until the culprit sending the death threats is caught. Angry after calling the bomb squad to investigate a suspicious package delivered their house, Rachel accuses Tony of letting his work effect their family.
After the poacher is brought in again for questioning, Tony extracts a confession of guilt after threatening to hand him over to an angry group of animal rights activists. Upon a visit to Prince's home, Tony discovers that he recently died of cancer. However, when he questions his son Alex, the young man admits to holding Tony responsible for his father's death and confesses to making the threats.
