During the morning's battle exercise Walker sneaks off to gather food for the platoon. He attempts to take a sheep from a barn on the local farm. Meanwhile, the rest of the platoon are attempting to cross a river. Walker, however, can be seen standing behind Mainwaring & Jones. After Mainwaring's misstep, Walker is seen back on the farm, trying to take a pig from its sty, then standing next to Wilson while Mainwaring climbs the rope, and then back on the farm in the chicken coop.
Mainwaring falls into the water twice, getting soaked, but his uniform is dry in the next scene.
The train pulls into the station on the left track of a 2-track platform. The next scene depicts the Home Guard standing on the right platform of a single track line with the smoke of the train pulling away on the right hand side.
As the platoon scatter during the ambush prior to reaching the camp someone loses a boot. In the next shot as Captain Mainwaring reappears the boot is gone.
The train station the Home Guard departs to has rusted tracks, indicating that a train hasn't run on those tracks for years. It's especially noticeable when the troop marches down the ramp and off the platform.
In some scenes, it is notable that the M1917 Enfield rifles carried by the platoon are merely dummies or deactivated weapons. In these scenes, most or all of the rifles are missing their front sight and triggers. This can be seen very clearly when the platoon becomes lost and ends up back at the railway station. However, in other scenes, the rifles revert back to actual examples complete with front sight and trigger.
When Godfrey leaves the train to relieve himself, the train unexpectedly begins moving again, forcing him to run to catch up and re-board. However, the back projection in the windows shows the train moving at a fast clip, which would make it impossible for anyone, particularly Godfrey, to catch up.
Just before the platoon are ambushed on their way to the camp they appear to be walking amongst pine trees. In the next shot they aren't.
When Manwairing allows Godfrey to leave the train to relieve himself, he says "Off you go Walker", instead of ''off you go Godfrey''.
