- Cliff Barnes: [as Pam dances with Dave] You know, Mandy, I am not usually pleased with what J.R. Ewing does. Tonight I certainly am.
- Mandy Winger: You're happy he made that announcement about Bobby's wedding?
- Cliff Barnes: I think that's exactly the jolt that Pam needed to show her that Bobby's out of her life. Now maybe we can convince her to give up this *ridiculous* search for Mark Graison.
- Mandy Winger: That announcement was a jolt, all right. Cliff, she was just devastated.
- Cliff Barnes: Well, it might be, but look at her. She's having fun, she's dancing.
- Mandy Winger: She's just trying to cover up her real feelings. She and I had a talk tonight before that announcement was made. She cares for Bobby a whole lot more than she lets on.
- Cliff Barnes: Yeah, but the fact of the matter is Bobby's marrying somebody else. I'm sorry if that hurts her... but I think it's the best thing for her.
- [a close-up of Pamela reveals her sad-eyed face as she leans over Dave's shoulder]
- J.R. Ewing: I'll tell you one thing. I sure am glad Jeremy Wendell got that award instead of that idiot he let sit at his table.
- Sue Ellen Ewing: Well, I'm sure they weren't gonna give Cliff the award the second year in a row.
- J.R. Ewing: [scoffs] I wouldn't.
- Sue Ellen Ewing: [as Bobby enters] Bobby!
- J.R. Ewing: Hi, Bob. I didn't expect you home so early. I thought you'd wanna spend some time with Jenna.
- Bobby Ewing: [angrily] I wanna talk to you!
- J.R. Ewing: [exhales] Sure. Get yourself a nightcap.
- Bobby Ewing: I don't want a nightcap! What I wanna know is why you made that announcement tonight.
- J.R. Ewing: Well, I - I thought it would be nice for you. You're not upset about it, are you?
- Bobby Ewing: You're damn right I'm upset! If I wanted to announce my wedding plans, I'd have done it myself!
- Sue Ellen Ewing: Bobby...
- [she gets a nasty look from Bobby]
- Bobby Ewing: But I didn't, on purpose!
- J.R. Ewing: Why not?
- Bobby Ewing: Because Pam was there.
- J.R. Ewing: Bob, you're not married to Pam anymore.
- Bobby Ewing: That doesn't mean she doesn't have feelings, J.R., she knew half the people in that room. Why embarrass her in front of everybody?
- Sue Ellen Ewing: Bobby, I'm sure that J.R. didn't mean to embarrass her.
- Bobby Ewing: I know my brother, Sue Ellen. Thank you very much.
- [to J.R.:]
- Bobby Ewing: It was a lousy and insensitive thing to do!
- J.R. Ewing: Now, hold on!
- Bobby Ewing: I know you never liked her, J.R. But what do you have to gain by being vindictive now?
- J.R. Ewing: You got it all wrong. I wasn't thinking about Pam. I was thinking about you and Jenna and how happy I was you're getting married.
- Bobby Ewing: *I bet you were.*
- J.R. Ewing: It's true, Bob. I just wanted it to be a special evening for you both. Don't come down on me for that.
- Sue Ellen Ewing: Bobby, I think you're being unfair.
- Bobby Ewing: Fair to J.R.? That's a joke!
- Sue Ellen Ewing: Well, in any case, I think the announcement was the best thing that could have ever happened. I mean, after all, you are marrying Jenna. Pam just has to realize that her life as a Ewing is over.
- Pamela Barnes Ewing: [on phone] If you don't want my business, why don't you tell me instead of stalling me like you have been?
- Steve Jackson: Mrs. Ewing, forgive me for saying this, but I think you're being a little unreasonable. My divers are down there, they're looking for the plane.
- Pamela Barnes Ewing: But it seems to be taking an awfully long time.
- Steve Jackson: I warned you it wouldn't be easy to find.
- Pamela Barnes Ewing: Mr. Jackson, I don't need your excuses. I want results. And if you can't give them to me, I'll find a salvage crew who can!
- [slams down phone]
- Mandy Winger: Pam, what's wrong?
- Pamela Barnes Ewing: Ugh. It was the salvage man trying to locate Mark's plane. I don't believe it could take this long.
- Cliff Barnes: It's a big ocean out there.
- Pamela Barnes Ewing: I think he's putting me off.
- Cliff Barnes: Putting you off? Why would he put you off?
- Pamela Barnes Ewing: Maybe because he believes like the rest of you that it's a futile search.
- Cliff Barnes: Pam, it *is* a futile search.
- Pamela Barnes Ewing: Or maybe because Bobby talked him into it.
- Cliff Barnes: That's crazy.
- Pamela Barnes Ewing: It's not crazy! He called Bobby.
- Cliff Barnes: I know...!
- Pamela Barnes Ewing: Can you believe it? As though I need permission to make this search.
- Cliff Barnes: So why would Bobby try to talk him into putting you off?
- Pamela Barnes Ewing: I have no idea! All I know is that you're all against what I'm trying to do.
- Dave Stratton: No, wait a minute. We're only against it because we're afraid you may get hurt.
- Pamela Barnes Ewing: What have you got to do with it? Stay out of it!
- Dave Stratton: I'm worried about you. I've never seen you like this.
- Pamela Barnes Ewing: You've never seen me at all! All you ever see is the merger. That's all you ever talk about, is getting Cliff together with Jeremy Wendell.
- Dave Stratton: Hey, whoa, wait a minute. Sure, I'd like the merger to happen, but more important than that, I care for you!
- Pamela Barnes Ewing: No, you don't! If you did, you'd support me.
- Cliff Barnes: Hey, kids, calm down a little.
- Pamela Barnes Ewing: [tearful outburst] I know what you're thinking. I know what everyone's thinking! You're thinking that I'm crazy to go on looking for Mark! Well, I'm not! He may be alive out there somewhere, and if he is, he's sick and alone and he needs me more than ever! I don't care what anybody thinks! I'm gonna go on looking! And if he is alive, I'm going to find him!
- [storms off]
- Jamie Ewing: Sue Ellen, I'm as together as I'm ever gonna be.
- Sue Ellen Ewing: But you're bored?
- Jamie Ewing: I don't want to hurt your feelings, but, yes, I am.
