Quotes

  • Dr. Andrew ''Andy'' Brown : So, what you got to say to yourself?

Ephram Brown : Give it up.

Dr. Andrew ''Andy'' Brown : You know what, Ephram, I thought you changed. I though if we moved here, you'd stop with the fighting, with the acting out

Ephram Brown : Yeah, I got this black eye because of you. Dick.

Dr. Andrew ''Andy'' Brown : You keep talking to me like that, you're gonna get yourself another one.

Ephram Brown : He said you were crazy. And you know what? News flash, you are. All right, you quit your job, you grow this ugly ass beard, you look like you wear your clothes to bed and you move us to No-wheres-ville U.S.A.! And why? For what reason? Because someone told you it was pretty once? And if that's not enough, you talk to Mom like she's still here; I've seen you, and Delia has too. What do I have to say for myself? What do you have to say for yourself?

Dr. Andrew ''Andy'' Brown : I can't believe you think my beard is ugly.

Ephram Brown : Mom would never have done this to us! She never would've moved us here and gone crazy!

Dr. Andrew ''Andy'' Brown : Don't be so sure of that!

Ephram Brown : I am sure! All right, I knew her. You didn't know her. We all just tolerated you!

Dr. Andrew ''Andy'' Brown : Hey, that's pretty good, what else you got?

Ephram Brown : I wish you died instead of her!

Dr. Andrew ''Andy'' Brown : Well, I wish I did too, you little bastard!

Ephram Brown : I hate you!

Dr. Andrew ''Andy'' Brown : Well, I hate you right back! Now get in that house!

Ephram Brown : I'm going for a ride!

    [He grabs his bike]

Dr. Andrew ''Andy'' Brown : Oh, yeah?

    Ephram Brown : Yeah!

Dr. Andrew ''Andy'' Brown : At some point you're getting in that house!

  • Teen #1 : [to Ephram]  Hey, freak. What's with the hair, man? They run out of green at the store?

Teen #2 : Hey, you. My friend asked you a question. Where's your manners?

Ephram Brown : I'm sorry. I didn't understand him. You see, I don't speak dumb-ass, but since you obviously do, maybe you could translate for me.

  • Amy Abbott : [to Ephram]  You were bold out there.

Ephram Brown : Oh, it was just strategy, really.

    Amy Abbott : Strategy?

Ephram Brown : I find it best when dealing with any unfamiliar bully to strike early with sarcasm. It makes them wonder whether I have some secret butt-kicking prowess they're unable to detect.

  • Dr. Andrew ''Andy'' Brown : [to Ephram]  How was your day?

Ephram Brown : It was okay, I found out I'm in love with in a girl who's in love with a guy that's in a coma. Other than that, it was pretty standard.

  • Amy Abbott : What's it like? Having a dad who's famous.

Ephram Brown : Oh. It's like this: You're eight years old. He misses your birthday party. You wanna cry about it but he's on TV that night for separating the heads of Siamese twins. You're ten. He's not there to see you in the school play. He is however in the New York Times for restoring the vision of a five-year-old kid. I think he was my dad's excuse for missing my elementary school graduation. You know you want to be mad at him. You wanna hate him. But you can't. He's saving lives.

  • Dr. Andrew ''Andy'' Brown : [to Ephram]  I'm making some pancakes, you want some?

Ephram Brown : Go to hell!

Dr. Andrew ''Andy'' Brown : That's my boy.

  • Ephram Brown : [to Amy]  So this is your boyfriend.

Amy Abbott : Ephram Brown, meet Colin Hart. Colin grew up down the block from me. We did everything together. He was the first boy I ever hated, the first boy I ever hit, kissed. Bright and him were best friends. They were always getting into trouble. And last Fourth of July, they decided to swipe Colin's dad's truck and go for a joy ride. Colin drove. There was an accident. Bright was thrown from the vehicle. He doesn't remember what happened. By the time the ambulance got there, Colin had fallen unconscious. He hasn't woken up ever since. Every night, I've prayed for a miracle, but nothing happens. When I heard about your dad coming to town, I thought, "Anyone could help him it would be him right?" I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings, Ephram. I was gonna tell you. I just I didn't know how.
