I think this is one of the funniest episodes of the whole series! It starts by Ray & Debra arguing over who is responsible for them getting together. Ray wants to take credit, but Debra swears if it wasn't for women pursuing men, the human race would die out. Then they start reminiscing which leads to the flashback:
Suddenly you see Debra 15 years earlier - as she answers the door for a futon delivery. It's Ray and his buddy Gianni. Ray gets all stupid and clumsy after meeting her. He knocks her down trying to pick up the mattress and she flips onto the sofa. He's quick to tell her this is just a side job, that he's studying to be a journalist. Debra keeps dropping hints for Ray to ask her out - but he's too stupid to pick up on it at first. He finally asks her out and she says yes. Then they leave. He realizes they forgot to give her the futon cover. He knocks on the door, and thinks she said "Come in" - but she really said "Coming". He opens the door and finds her half undressed. She freaks and he stupidly tries to recover. Its hilarious! Next, Ray is relaying the story (in the past) to Robert - oh, his hair his hilarious! It's a big shaggy mullet. It lead to a hilarious joke about a zebra with breasts. Debra shows up at Ray's house when he cancels the date. She makes up an excuse that the futon leg is loose and he has to come fix it.
He shows up the next day to fix it, but the leg isn't loose at all. Then Debra says she cooked too much food and he can have some if he wants. He says he' s going to be a sports writer. She says she does PR for the Rangers. She fixes "Lemon Chicken" which Ray says is so good he could eat it the rest of his life (believe me, he will). When Ray offers to fix drinks, he ends up clubbing Debra in the head with the freezer door and knocks her out without realizing it. When Ray tries to help her up, she attacks him - with a kiss. She says "Wow - you're a good kisser".
It flashes forward to present day, as she plops more lemon chicken on the plate, and tells him he's still a good kisser!
This is a really funny episode. It's well written and the clothes and hair do's are hilarious. And of course, Marie's house looks exactly the same - the way it has since the 60's I'm sure! Great stuff!!
