Pascale : [on Doortje's health after giving birth to Billie] She doesn't look good.
Carmen : That's a postpartum depression. Eight out of ten women get that.
Oscar : I've heard two out of ten don't get that.
[Carmen frowns]
Pascale : [gets Doortje a pillow, sway's Billie's cradle] Here you go. You shouldn't tire yourself. Is our little boy awake?
Carmen : Based on what I've read, I...
Oscar : You're excited as well?
Carmen : No. Xavier isn't quite keen on dogs.
[Oscar frowns]
Bieke : Do you still want a dog, Carmen? Publitime published an announcement. You can have it.
[Dimitri enters the cafe]
Dimitri : [they ignore him] Is this where the treat for my godson takes place? You look good, Doortje. Maybe you can work again soon.
Pico : Watch your tongue, Dimitri.
Doortje : My heart's racing again.
Pascale : Look at what you did. You should be ashamed of yourself.
Dimitri : But I need her.
Pascale : The only person who needs her is Billie. By the way, you'd better look at your godson.
Dimitri : [gets up and talks to Billie] Ah. Too-doo.
Xavier : Beautiful baby, uh Dimitri? Look at the little mouth it has.
Dimitri : Zal 't gaan, ja? Too-doo.
[Billie starts crying]
Doortje : Dimitri... It's OK, Billie. The ugly man is gone.
-
Carmen : Where did you see Doortje?
Xavier : In the cafe.
[Carmen gets up and approaches Xavier menacingly]
Carmen : So instead of buying me a dog you decide 'let's have some pints', huh?
Xavier : Carmen, please. My birds don't want a dog.
[he pauses]
Xavier : And me neither.
[Carmen goes to the kitchen where she 'prepares' to fake an illness]
Xavier : [he talks to his parakeets] My little friends don't want a dog, right? Perhaps I'll teach a parakeet how to talk first.
[Carmen returns, she acts if she's sick]
Xavier : What's the matter?
Carmen : I'm feeling weird and I'm sweating.
Xavier : Yeah, right. And you're having heart palpitations, don't you?
Carmen : Yeah now that you mention it. Go ahead. Feel it.
[Xavier feels her heart and because of the workout she did in the kitchen, her heart is racing]
Xavier : You're not even joking. You're having cotton legs?
Carmen : No, they're flannel. I'll go lie down, okay?
Xavier : Yeah, you do that. Shall I get you a blanket?
Carmen : No, Xavier. I'm good.
[Xavier makes a phone call to Pascale]
Xavier : Pascale? Yeah, Carmen's not feeling well. Yes - No. I think she *caught* Doortje's illness. I'm serious. She walked in and went like "Xavier, ooooh..."...
Carmen : [she sighs in the couch] Aaaaah...
Xavier : Can you hear her? Yes, heart palpitations. And she's sweating, yes. She's sweating a lot. What do you say? That I should give her a lot of attention? Sure. And do whatever she asks. Okay. If it has to be done, it has to be done. Thanks. Bye Pascale.
[he walks back to Carmen, he holds her hand]
Xavier : Alright. I guess we'll buy the dog.
Carmen : Yes, honey. Why don't you do that.
Xavier : If he barks I'll give him valium, though.

Doortje : [opening lines; Doortje helps Pico draw up a shopping list] Powdered sugar, vitamin C, a pack of diapers...
Pico : I put that already.
Doortje : Make it two then. Then sanitary napkin.
Pico : It's hard for me to ask that, isn't it?
Doortje : [she's faking] I'm suddenly having these palpitations, you know.
Pico : Are you okay? You really think it's a good idea for you to go to Boma's treat?
Doortje : Why not? He treats on the occasion of Billie.
Pico : So sanitary napkin, huh?
Doortje : Yes. Small ones.
Pico : Small ones.
[he writes it down, Billie starts crying]
Doortje : Never mind, Pico. You go do the shopping.
[Doortje checks on Billie in the kitchen, Pico gets up; in himself]
Pico : 'Hello, miss. I'd like to have a sanitary napkin. No, for my wife. Small ones.'
Carmen : [as she enters their apartment] Wouldn't you bring me a few, too? Supers, that is.
Pico : [he looks embarrassed] Doortje's feeling a little sick. Rather a bit depressed, if you will.
Carmen : Where is she?
Pico : She's with the baby. I'll see you at the cafe? Later, Doortje!
Doortje : [acting like she's ill] Later, Pico.
Carmen : [she reads a page from Doortje's magazine] 'Eight out of ten women develop postpartum depression.' Well, if you're alone, of course you get that.
[Doortje returns from the kitchen, playing with Billie; she sees Carmen]
Doortje : Oh. I'm constantly hearing this 'tuuuut' sound, you know. And I'm sweating a lot.
Carmen : [forced] I understand. It's pretty bad, huh. Sometimes it can be very easy, especially if you let your husband do the shopping.
[Carmen pulls an eye, showing that she totally gets Doortje's plan]
