"Soap Opera Showdown: Saints vs. Sinners!" was an enjoyable week's worth of special "Family Feud" shows
tavm15 September 2010
What I'm writing a review of here is of four of five episodes of a special "Family Feud" week called "Soap Opera Showdown: Saints vs. Sinners!" There were two sets of both from all the ABC daytime dramas: "All My Children", "One Live to Live", "General Hospital", "Ryan's Hope", and "The Edge of Night". For the 1st and 3rd shows (all were taped on a Sunday which would be the only day these actors had the day off), the Saints were: Doug Sheehan-GH, Lori Loughlin-TEON, Peter Bergman-AMC, Brynn Thayer-OLTL, and Karen Morris-Gowdy-RH. They competed against these Sinners who also were on the 4th show: David Froman-EON, Robin Mattson-GH, James Mitchell-AMC, Gerald Anthony-OLTL, and Ilene Kristen-RH. Competing on the 2nd, 4th, and 5th shows the Saints were: Kathleen No one-AMC, Al Freeman, Jr.-OLTL, Marg Helgenberger-RH, Joel Crothers-EON, and Loanne Bishop-GH. They first competed against these Sinners who were also on the 3rd and 5th shows: Dorothy Lyman-AMC, Kelli Maroney-RH, Kin Shriner-GH, Steve Fletcher-OLTL, and Sharon Gabet-EON. The second set of Saints only got to Fast Money on the 4th show and I have not seen that one so I can't comment. I have seen the last one which had that same set battle it out with the 2nd set of Sinners with-as twice before-Kelli and Sharon doing FM with 200 or more points being reached each time. When host Richard Dawson first talked to Dorothy, he mentioned her Emmy win and their appearance together on "Mama's Family" then said about that, "I can't mention the network but just contact your local peacock. They'll tell you what." In Lyman's team was also Kin Shriner of "General Hospital" who-when called to the board-had to tell the host to "get on with it" since for some reason Richard hesitated before speaking. That got Dawson to shout similar things to Kin when he also did the same thing. He also asked a few times how he was doing though since Kin's team won all the trophies, there was no bitterness on anyone's part. It was also interesting seeing current prime time stars Lori Loughlin and Marg Helgenberger in their younger Soap Opera days here. All in all, this was another entertaining week of vintage "Family Feud" shows.
