Lisa Ryder and her goofy grin and jumpy personality are hard to take when she is the lead for an episode. Here it starts with her killing a guy who shot at her five times. How she never got hit is thanks to movie magic (and blanks).
Her first shot at the perp is a kill shot, so she gets desk duty for three days, as is normal on every police department for the past 70+ years. It is also normal on every police show since Dragnet in the 1950s.
Ryder tosses a hissy-fit, and claims it is only because she is a woman. Natalie encourages her, so Ryder goes off unauthorized to track down a serial killer as an undercover escort gal. On her first night she gets captured by the serial killer. It is a weak plot, and Ryder's grimacing and grinning make it even worse.
Vachon is here, and kind of a useless character. Vachon (Ben Bass) would pop up for a couple of minutes in occasional episodes to look pretty with his long hair and hot young vampire look, but he usually did absolutely nothing.
