This is the first appearance of Eric Lutes as Tom Duran. He succeeds Ned Miller, who was fired in the previous season episode Oops (1993), as KACL station manager. He remains in this position for the entire season (despite appearing in only one other episode besides this one - Agents in America: Part 3 (1995)) before being replaced by Kate Costas in She's the Boss (1995).
When Tom asked if Martin and Niles are gay, it becomes extra funny because the actor who play Niles (David Hyde Pierce) is gay in real life.
This is the second time Frasier attempts to fix up one of the other main characters, as he does so for Daphne in this episode. He previously did so for Martin in Here's Looking at You (1993) one year earlier.
