This episode has so much cringe but you just can't stop watching it. Rory and Lorelai go to visit the Harvard alumni and his family. They do crazy things like quiz each other at lunch. Rory bumps into the oldest daughter who is pretty cool because she didn't follow the Ivy League path.
Lane advertises for a new band member and we meet Dave.

The One With The Applications...

Warning: Spoilers
I love this episode. I just love to see Rory get all excited about applying to colleges.
In this episode, as college is coming up fast, Rory receives her Harvard application, which means she has to pick an essay topic. She gets all nervous about the application, wondering if she should put a lot of interests, or just some, or whether she needs to do this or do that. Since she's so anxious, hence the episode title: Application Anxiety, she is able to set up a lunch with a Harvard alumni, to see if she even has a chance of getting in. When she and Lorelai go, Rory gets to ask every question she's ever wanted to know. But all this college talk makes Dean worried about his future with her. Meanwhile, Taylor wants to open an old fashioned soda shop next to Luke's, which isn't impressing him, and Lane advertises for a new band member to replace Dave.
Overall, I give this episode a 9 out of 10, which in my ratings book is: Amazing.

Warning: Spoilers
We are waiting for Rory to go to Harvard for two seasons now, and just one season after her mom and her visited the campus, she finally received her long-awaited application she had to fulfill. We expect that to be as easy as a as pie. Unfortunately, she discovered she is just an ordinary student, and the road to Harvard is longer and more winding than she seemed.
The whole episode takes sense when Rory meet an alumnus to help her being accepted to Harvard. The alumnus' family appears to be a cliché of an Harvard family. This scenes is a must-see, especially when they quiz each other about literature, but as it comes out of nowhere, I prefer to hide it behind a spoiler.
