Penultimate Episode
GunnersMate3 May 2018
The penultimate episode of Hamish Macbeth begins (and centers on) the search for the Stone of Destiny. An odd Indiana Jones-ish start (even for this series) as there is FAR too much emphasis on backstory and the current tale of a full roster of new characters. Add to that an impossible-to-swallow hypnotist element and it takes buckets of patience to see this curious tale through to the villagers of Lochdubh and our intrepid Constable. Some lovely personal interactions amongst our better known characters save Destiny: Part 1 from complete dregs, but it's a rough ride to get there. This is a part-one-of-two episode, so perhaps Destiny: Part 2 will pick up with the best bits and see them through to satisfaction. time will tell.

Unbelievably awful finale
hreghen27 November 2023
If you have enjoyed this show then I recommend that you do not spoil your experience by watching this two-part finale. The story is completely preposterous and the focus is mainly on new characters and the acting skills of the actors playing those new characters are almost non-existent.

The plot involves a crazy American evil mastermind, a man with one eye, one leg and one hand, and a remarkably efficient and successful hypnotist trying to steal a part of Scotland's heritage. Almost nothing makes sense in this episode. To ensure your sanity and to preserve your happy memories of this sweet, quirky show I recommend that you don't watch either finale episode and watch a favourite episode instead.
