Pretty good despite a bit of over-acting...and under-acting.

The show begins with a prisoner (Patty Duke) making a deal with the District Attorney to testify against a mob boss (wow--Hawaii seems to have a never-ending supply of them). In exchange, this wacky lady wants the police to provide a church wedding and honeymoon for her! McGarrett thinks the lady just wants to milk the state but the DA gives his approval for this weird bargain. The problem is that now it's up to McGarrett to try to somehow keep this idiot alive!

This is a pretty good episode of "Hawaii Five-O" although some of the acting left a bit to be desired. First, Patty Duke occasionally over-emoted in a few scenes and reminded me of her performance in "Valley of the Dolls". Second, this was one of the few episodes that explored McGarrett's love life--and he appeared extremely awkward and stiff (in a bad way) in these scenes. Still, despite this, it's pretty interesting and featured an unusual plot.

Cyanide, anyone?

This episode is watching just to see Patty Duke play against type. After watching her play two roles for so long on The Patty Duke Show, you don't expect her to show up in a role where she's called a "monster" before she even gets her first shot before the camera, and a pathological liar shortly after that.

Carol Lawrence makes an appearance as, evidently, an old flame of Steve McGarrett's. She really gets very little screen time or part of the plot for a "name" star in the episode.

You get a hint that 5-0 isn't as overwhelmingly successful as it's episodic cases would lead you to believe, as the crime boss Manolo is into a lot of bad stuff, and McGarrett and company haven't been able to haul him in yet. Will Patty Duke's character be able to hold up her end of a deal to convict him of murder? Can 5-0 and HPD protect her in the meantime?

Beautiful guest star Patty Duke makes this ep fun and exciting

Warning: Spoilers
More so than almost any other actress. Her performance is appropriately heavy handed as she is supposedly a young lady thug from the wrong side of the tracks. You do not have to know that, that much about her acting background on film and TV to immensely enjoy her in this. She had both pregnancy in real life ( they wrote her pregnant condition into the ep)and eating disorder in reality as well and she looks all the more sexy and beautiful for it. Best scene is the murder flashback she tells to McGarrett. Is it real or is she just making it up? Watch the ep and find out. There is a fine supporting cast in Carol Lawrence who ( despite another reviewers's strange claim) has a lot to do in this ep. Did that reviewer only see a highly edited version of this ep? But it is Patty who makes this really great!
