Althea a hostage
bkoganbing25 December 2020
The Sparta Police has a runaway prison escapee on its hands who really enjoys killing to eliminate witnesses. Will Bledsoe is traveling with his girlfriend Mariska Hargitay and carjacks AnneMarie Johnson and takes her along as a hostage along with a little boy she is minding.

This will be quite a revelation for all you SVU fans out there seeing Mariska Hargitay as a dumb hillbilly girl who bonds with Althea Tibbs in a strange way. Johnson is the first outsider who didn't treat her like the white trash sheis.

As for Bledsoe,, he's one stone killer and only one way to deal with him.

Exciting concluding episode to the first season.

A great way to end a season

This episode is a favorite episode of mine because it has a manhunt, Hostage, and personal story. This episode is also an early episode in the career of Mariska Hargitay who is know as Detective, Sergeant, Lieutenant, and Captain Olivia Benson on NBC Law and Order SVU (1999-), Law and Order (1990-), Chicago Fire (2012-) Chicago PD (2014-). Althea is taken hostage and then it gets personal for Virgil and the Chief has to help and the case does get personal and also show what Virgil and Althea would become parents later in the series run. This episode is the last to be shot down in Louisiana and then they would film in Covington Georgia which was used in the first five episodes of The Dukes of Hazzard (1979-1985)

Warning: Spoilers
Why would Althea go catfishing with the boy, when there was a manhunt on for his grandma's killer. I realize it made for a great episode, but in real life that would of been stupid. As where so many of the episodes involving Althea being raped, and witnessing a boy killing himself. She was a great screamer and actor. But some of the plots were not very good involving her. The whole plot is bad from the standpoint of unbelievable real life events. This makes the whole episode look ridiculous as well as the actors trying to pursue the audience that this would take place like this. One of the worst episodes in the series.
