JR's Heart
hellraiser723 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Warning do not read unless seen episode.

This is another favorite episode of the show and my favorite one with JR. Not a whole lot I can say about this one it's pretty much the simple story about the adolescent starting to take that first step into a much bigger world and it's JR's turn.

Really like the beginning where he sets up some sort of scare prank for the Lubick babes, but it of course doesn't work, yeah when you play pranks on the same people over and over it become mere routine. However, this in a way is really a set up for what's to come JR's way. On a side not really like in part of that beginning seeing Marie swear, another fun moment seeing that hidden dark side of her. Really like what happens when the girl scout comes to the door and sees JR in all his makeup and the fake axe, that was just comic silver especially what JR says afterward.

Really like the girl Pamala who is played by Jenny Lewis whom you would remember from "The Wizard" as well as music; and on a sidenote another celeb crush I had when I was a kid. It's too bad she couldn't have been a reoccurring character in the show but couldn't be possible as the show ended too soon. But I like her character Pamala from the fact of course the girl played by Jenny Lewis but mainly because she's doesn't feel like your generic GF(Girlfriend) of the week she feels like an actual character. She has personality as there is this spunk, energy, and warmth to her, and I like that she's into the horror genre, maybe not as much as JR but a fan all the same.

The chemistry between both is solid, it feels genuine as it's the kind most of us had when we interacted with the opposite sex as an adolescent, JR really likes the girl and interacts with her well. But we see as he's about to go on his first date he has questions and really like the people he asks to get some answers which is something we've done going out first time. The answers he gets from each of the characters are interesting though not all entirely correct as in one moment Marie goes off topic with her talk on fudge packing. But this shows a reality as first dates are never an exact science.

JR is also riddled with insecurity as one thing goes wrong, where he shows Pamala a fake blood invention that is supposed to do something, but let's just say that the kind that does the opposite. It's almost a funny irony as he is the person that is always scaring people but this time, he's doing the scaring on himself; though for the record the incident did give him the desired scares he seeked.

Really like the final minutes which is sweet as we see Pamala accepts JR for who his is quarks and all, which I feel is what a good significant other should do. Because all those quarks of JR are what make him human and interesting; unlike most guys that can look like some cover model but are dull as a brick because that's all they are a shiny candy coating but nothing inside.

JR has taken his first big step into a much bigger world and both him and has found his heart.

Rating: 4 stars.
