This program had been very successfully performed (live) on the same show in 1950. The producers wanted to do it again in 1951, but in the interim, Laurence Hammond had optioned the play for a possible Broadway run. Kraft Television Theatre's producers sought Hammond's permission to re-do the show and Hammond allowed it as a sort of "audition" for the property for potential theatrical backers. Neither "Kelly" nor would-be producer Hammond ever made it to Broadway. (An unrelated show of the same title played on Broadway in 1965.)
