The events of this episode are later referenced in Season 13's Justice Denied (2012), in which it is revealed that the suspect Benson got the confession from was Omar Pena.
This is one of multiple appearances by Terry Serpico (Deacon Brinn), playing a different character in each episode. He first appears in Season 1's Closure (2000) and then in Season 4's Rotten (2003). He will later reappear in Season 15's Military Justice (2013). & ultimately as Chief McGrath in Season 22.
Christopher Meloni and Michael Shannon share screen time again in Man of Steel (2013) when they portray opposing combatants, U.S. Colonel Nathan Harding and Krypton's General Zod.
Avery Shaw mentions that Benson has killed a man before. At the time of this episode, Benson had killed *two* such people in the line of duty: Roger Silver in the episode Disrobed (2000) and Eric Plummer in the episode Wrath (2001).
