Johnny Ringo and Curly Bill Brocius, outraged over crooked Sheriff Behan taxing the money they make on some of their illegal activities, enlist Doc Holliday to frame the Sheriff --- but Earp is suspicious the case seems a little too pat.
Curly Bill Brocius and Johnny Ringo complain to Old Man Clanton that Sheriff Johnny Behan taxed the cattle they stole. Clanton laughs at them letting Behan get by with it and refuses to help remove Behan since he is a coward and hard to replace. Curly decides the pair should talk to Doc Holliday who also hates Behan. Doc happy to help while keeping it secret from Earp, asks for registered bills stolen from Wells Fargo. After a Wells Fargo robbery a list of $50 bills is circulated in Tombstone that was stolen. Doc arranges that Behan's girlfriend Dora Madison who is really wanted under a different name will put some of the stolen money in Behan's money roll. Celebrating the end of tax collections at a saloon Behan pays with two of the bad bills which is reported to Earp who arrests Behan. Behan seems surprised and screams he is being framed. Earp questioning the case visits Curly and Johnny at Ayres Charleston Roadhouse to question them but they decide to lynch Earp. Ayres warns Clanton who rescues Earp but not before Earp learns some of the truth but no one will testify to the truth.—Anonymous
