Chief Natchez fears being blamed for an attack on a wagon train, which was actually carried out by outlaws. In order to explain to Earp that his tribe is innocent, Natchez decides to kidnap Shotgun Gibbs to get Earp's attention.
Chief Natchez and his braves off the reservation hunting witness the Clanton gang attack a Mexican wagon train. The Mexican civilians are killed and scalped to make it appear the Apaches did it. Fearing being blamed for the attack, Natchez sends his men to capture either Earp or Big Wyoming (Shotgun) on the trail from Charleston to make contact with Earp. They capture Shotgun and bring him to their camp. Natchez sends out four men to find Earp based on what Shotgun tells him. In Tombstone a late arriving Shotgun has Earp thinking the Clanton gang has killed Shotgun. Earp decides to resign and go alone to find Shotgun as an angry ex-lawman. At the Charleston Roadhouse he learns the Clanton gang made a big score. Doc Holliday shows up to help so the two of them leave in a burst of gunfire. On the road a brave finds them and takes them to Natchez. Natchez takes Earp to the massacre scene. Given what he knows Earp believes Natchez but they must now convince the Army.—Anonymous
