Charlie's Angel and Harry Mudd plus an overlong plot...what could be better? An assortment of 70's characters and the ever-present, exasperated Chief Clifford. As ever, Joe Broadhurst plays it straight and is one of the funniest characters. The 'golden hat;' what a hoot! One of my favorite ever shows growing up. Who ever thought Chester would be a good star of this type show. In my book, he beats Marshal Dillon hands down! He earned his "spurs" in 'Duel' for sure. Amazing the old technology of the 1970's is like looking at the old west. What I really want to know is how Dennis Weaver could move like that when he had a limp in the 50's.

Where did you get that hat?

Poor Sam McCloud. After a hard day of taking Chief Clifford's barbs all he wants to do is settle down at a local diner for a bowl of chili which he hasn't had since leaving Taos. He winds up in the middle of a seven million dollar heist perpetrated by four men. The best part is being accosted by Jaclyn Smith who is a ballerina.
The ballet company she's a lead dancer for is involved in the heist. But what gets this all started is that someone in the diner grabs McCloud's stetson off the hat rack and runs for it. Dennis Weaver gives chase, but the man falls to his death.
Altogether four people die one reason or another in connection with that hat. A list of top flight guest stars get bumped off one by one.
You'll not believe what it's all about, but I will say that it is a computer crime and what everyone wants to know is where is that money stashed in cyber space and how do we find it? And what's McCloud's hat got to with it?
An interesting and tricky story.
