This one just did not do it for me!
mm-399 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Streetwise this one just did not do it for me! Well what worked here: The bizarre tale of the vice cop falling in love with a prostitute probably happened. Snipes (before fame) portrayed a believable bad guy pimp! The Tubs, Snipes feud was solid. What kills Streetwise: Paxon (before fame) as the confused vice cop, did not have synergy with Crockett. No chemistry! The no Crockett and Tubs dynamic. The magic was missing. Crockett and Tubbs gives the viewer the golden standard of acting chemistry. A good story dragged on with out Tubbs; I found watching Streetwise that Crockett needs Tubbs was the secret sauce of the iconic series. The story had a had a hit ending which was dark and memorable. Paxon did a decent job, but the mix was disjointed without Tubbs. 6 stars.

Drugs and prostitution
Tweekums3 May 2012
Warning: Spoilers
Like many episodes this opens on the streets of night time Miami; there is a difference though as undercover Trudy mouths the words of the song playing in the background; somehow the scene works without seeming comical or camp. The story proper opens with a raid on a premise being used for prostitution; one of the men arrested is police officer Vic Romano and the girl he is with is a prostitute in possession of pharmaceutical cocaine. Finding out where the cocaine is coming from won't be easy as the girl is unwilling to help. In an attempt to persuade her Tubbs sets up a cover as a pimp who is intending to take over the local territory from a pimp known as Silk; he then bails the girl hoping she might do things for a pimp that she wouldn't do for a cop. Romano, meanwhile, is suspended and sent home. As the net tightens around Silk and his superior things get more dangerous too and inevitably the episode climaxes with a shootout.

This was another fairly gritty episode with a couple of well known guest stars; Bill Paxton plays Vic Romano and Hollywood A-lister Wesley Snipes stars as Silk. The story was good and had me hooked from the start; it also had characters I cared about making the final scene all the more poignant. The regular cast put in their usual fine performances; I particularly liked the scene where Philip Michael Thomas, as Tubbs, beat up Wesley Snipes! There was a good amount of action too although I have no idea how Crockett's Ferrari didn't get shot as he took cover behind it twice! The stream of high quality episodes is making me think that this might be the best season yet!

The Best episode of all time
ivo-cobra81 August 2007
Streetwise from Miami Vice is one of the best episode ever made.Who written and directed this and where they make this episode's.Absulutly outstanding, the best episode.Streetwise tels about a cop plays by Bill Paxton who fall's in love for a hooker. But they were caught and they find a drugs by her,so Sonny has idea to use him to find the drug dealers and Rico plays a pimp who bails out the hooker and try to use her as bait, but it 's not going by the plan.So he must tell her who he is.Too bad was only that the cop die's on the end of the episode. The best of episode was that they were Wesley Snipes and Bill Paxton as special guest stars, and the scene with Tubbs and with Silk played by Snipes, were Tubbs beats's Silk was the best scene. What can i'say the best soundtrack, the best actors and the best plot. The soundtrack of the beginning was great,i'did know that was soundtrack from Don Johnson,it was great.Too bad that i'm only who comments this episode,i read some comments and nobody comment's this episode, why 's that ?The best episode ever made, stay with this episode, you like't.Season 3 of Miami Vice is the best, better than first two.I'agree with the comment who wrote Savage,he was right.

The Very First Episode I Ever Saw of Miami VICE
errol190929 June 2008
Another gem from 3. The greatest year of Vice. 3 is perfect in every way. Skip the rest of the other crappy seasons and go straight to 3. You will be amazed. Streetwise is an episode that features everything you want in a Vice episode. Great, great story that features realistic plot lines and characters that have human qualities in them. Everybody featured in this episode does their part worthy. Especially the Vice team. Don Johnson, Philip Michael Thomas, Sandra Santiago, and Olivia Brown are all perfect in this episode. The two women play hookers, and they don't miss a beat in their performance or structure of character. Especially if your talking about their style of clothing. Gina in that undeniably extremely sexy green skirt is enough to make any guy go crazy for this women. Crockett also in my opinion is wearing his best blazer of the entire show. That dark teal blazer is exceptionally cool and slick.

The story of the episode features many, many aspects. However, everything comes together perfectly for the action packed thrilling climax that doesn't miss a beat! The music by Jan Hammer is also top notch. He provides the perfect themes such as the hooker theme, the club theme, and one of my favorites the Carla/Ramono theme that gives me goosebumps. A note to mention. This was the first episode I ever saw of Miami Vice back in 1997 on FX. The episode blew me away and I became hooked on this that very day, especially of 3 which as never left me since.

One clip in this episode that grabbed me the first time I saw it was after the beginning credits, the Testarossa pulls to a stop and the dialog goes like this:

Crockett: Ahh, sweeping a hot sheet motel with a bunch of rookies is got to be my favorite way to spent the evening.

Tubbs: Want more can you ask for. $8.50 an hour after taxes with tropical skies all around you. (Something like that)

Crockett: I can think of a lot more.

Cut to: A couple kissing. With Hammer's mesmerizing score playing in the background. The Carla/Ramono theme.

That's STREETWISE. That's Miami VICE! WOW!
