Frustrated hack screenwriter Buzz Hunkle (a spot-on cynical performance by Richard Belzer) struggles to write his latest script that's about a werewolf Hollywood producer who might actually be the real deal.
Director Thomas J. Whelan keeps the enjoyably inane story moving along at a snappy pace as well as maintains an amiable tongue-in-cheek tone throughout. Moreover, the game cast have a ball with the wacky material, with especially lively contributions from David Leary as smarmy studio head Billy Mariner, Geraldine Leer as eager aspiring writer Vicki, and Shelly Berman as the overbearing Leo Tandowski. Ron Goulart's clever script not only pokes merry fun at schlock filmmaking, but also boasts a nice twist at the end. The werewolf looks pretty gnarly, too. A real hoot.
