This is a unique twist on Cyrano de Bergerac that has Murphy writing love letters as a response to faxes Miles gets from a secret admirer who works in the building. Little do Murphy and Miles realize that it's the same scenario for the beautiful woman (Teri Hatcher) in her responses, those having been written by a rather gruff Richard Masur. It's an interesting development that Hatcher (who usually plays very intelligent characters) is actually a dumbbell, riddled with insecurities over her beauty and inability to communicate with intelligent people. But the real twist comes between Candice Bergen and Masur whose initial gruff introduction shows that they share many things in common. In fact, when Masur reveals a series of intellectual things he'd like to do on a date, Murphy's response is perfect. This is a lighter episode than normal because there's no real social significance to it outside of how presumed personality traits based on looks aren't often the truth. The brief appearance by Murphy's latest secretary shows that someone in HR is playing a series of jokes on her, and this is one of the most wild up to this point.
