(1992)

Robert Englund: Blackie

Quotes

  • Frank Nolan : Where's that damned reporter?

Blackie : Racing for a deadline, I'd say.

Blackie : [narrating]  Well, that's his first choice at least. His second isn't so easy... then neither are second chances. It remains to be seen if Harry is up for either.

  • Blackie : The café doesn't play favorites, Frank. You go out, you take your chances.

Frank Nolan : You mean... we could die - again?

Blackie : For keeps this time.

  • [the sheriff and farmers get ready to shoot Fay, Frank and Blackie believing them to be invading space aliens]

Blackie : [narrating]  Funny isn't it how even the most law abiding can decide that the law abides in them alone.

  • [Fay, Frank and Blackie are facing a firing squad consisting of the county sheriff and farmers]

Frank Nolan : Blackie, I've got to ask. If they shoot you, do you die?

Blackie : Got me. I've never been shot before.

Fay Peronivic : Now why does that surprise me.

Blackie : Last time they tried to execute me, crossbows were all the rage.

[Fay stares at Blackie in astonishment]

Blackie : Hey, those things pack a wallop!

  • [Frank and Fay disarm the angry sheriff]

Blackie : Not bad for a couple of earthlings.

  • [the café's door swings open and the missing cows stroll through]

    Blackie : Heifers from hell?

Fay Peronivic : Cows from Mars driving their spaceship on their restless search for greener pastures.

Frank Nolan : No way they were driving the spaceship. They got hooves - how could they work the pedals?

  • [last lines]

Blackie : [narrating]  Funny how things work out sometimes. There's a kind of relief when the chickens come home to roost, the cows are back in the barn and just plain folks like you and me admit that the most scary aliens of all don't come from the stars above, but from the darkness of the space within. But from within that darkness, no matter how deep, there will always be at least one light burning in the windows of a little place called "The Nightmare Café".
