Martin, played by William Schallert, paraphrases "Requiem," written by Robert Louis Stevenson, when he says, "Home is the hunter, home from the hill, and the sailor home from the sea." The actual quotation is "Home is the sailor, home from the sea / And the hunter home from the hill." Ironically, the words were originally slated to be carved on a headstone, hence the title "Requiem."
Patty quotes Julius Caesar when she says "veni, vidi, vici," which she correctly translates from the Latin as 'I came, I saw, I conquered'. A consensus among historians is that Caesar used the phrase to characterize his efforts in overcoming enemy forces, which forces exactly is not always agreed upon.
This is the fourth of eight credited appearances Timothy Neufeld makes in the series, sometimes, as here, playing Tim, sometimes playing Tom, other times playing an unnamed character.
