The dialog repeatedly refers to the elevator being set incorrectly. An aircraft's elevator is the rear control surface that is constantly adjusted with the control yoke to control the aircraft's up/down pitch. The correct term would have been 'flaps'. The flaps are extended to add lift and drag to allow the aircraft to make a steeper and slower decent for landing.
