- Jarod meets a young man at the airport, Daniel Falk, and gets to talk to him. The young man was bumped off his flight and needed to get home to register for the upcoming school semester. Jarod decides to exchange his ticket for the flight with Daniel so that he can make his flight home. The flight later crashes with fatalities and Daniel is among them. Jarod becomes grief stricken and has feelings of guilt after remembering how Daniel had thanked him for exchanging tickets. He then tries to determine the cause of the crash by pretending to be a NTSB flight crash inspector. He meets Clark Howard and Diane Post who are also NTSB workers. The preliminary findings indicate that the pilot, Angela Wiley, had not set the landing flaps correctly which resulted in the crash. The copilot, Brandon Larson, claims that the pilot had approved the flap setting just as the plane was descending. Miss Parker, Sydney, and Broots get clues from Jarod where he invites them to a class reunion to find another member of the institute, Lyle Bowman. Miss Parker and Broots pretend to be a married couple at the reunion where they meet some people, Butch and Kelli. They also talk to Mrs. Bowman about the beheading death of her son. Mrs. Bowman has dementia, but tells about how her husband had locked her son in a shed when he was young because he was unruly. Her husband, Mr. Bowman, was imprisoned for the subsequent murder of his son, but the indications appear that another boy was killed and that the son had only disappeared and that the son may have killed a friend and used the dead body to fake his own death. The pilot of the crashed plane becomes suicidal with feelings of guilt after she cannot recollect what happened before the crash. Jarod convinces her to give him a chance to vindicate her and not to add her death along with the plane crash victims. The copilot, Brandon Larson, also does not remember what happened before the crash and has a history of drug abuse. Jarod finds out that the cockpit voice recorder does not have any information on it and decides to see if he can electronically retrieve the information. He taps into a cell phone call between Don Larson and Clark Howard who discuss about the crash and Jarod's meddling. Jarod is able to retrieve a portion of the voice recording prior to the crash which has a recording of Captain Angela Wiley yelling at the copilot, Brandon Larson, for failing to see the flaps correctly as the plane nosedives. Jarod confronts Brandon Larson about his drug and drinking problems along with the voice recording and he reveals that his father has been covering up for him and is in total control of his life. Jarod then fixes up a plane and tells Clark Howard and Don Larson that he has further information regarding the plane crash and he needs to show them the evidence near the site of the crash. With the three of them in the plane as it flies towards the crash site, Jarod excuses himself to go the restroom. He then parachutes out of the plane and rigged plane starts to descend as Clark and Don are unable to control the plane. Jarod tells the two of them that the plane will crash unless they confess about their conspiracy to cover up the true responsibility of the plane crash and for wiping out the cockpit voice recorder information. As the plane approaches a mountain side, they panic and confess. Jarod then tells them where to regain control of the plane and tells them that they only have enough fuel to return to the airport and that the law enforcement authorities will be waiting for them there. At the episode closing, Jarod goes to Daniel Falk's home where he meets his parents. He gives his mother some belongings of her son and tells her that he met her son at the airport and that they exchanged flight tickets that put her son on the plane where he was killed. Jarod starts to leave, but Mrs. Falk asks that he remain and tell them about what their son had said to him before he boarded the fateful flight.
