The Cross of St. Ciricus

Warning: Spoilers
After Lewis Collins appearance in the previous episode. It is now Martin Shaw's turn with a very modern haircut to make an uncredited cameo has a professional beggar.

Will Scarlett and Much come across some lepers in the forest and think they themselves have it.

Robin and the Merries go to Croxden Abbey where the healing powers of the Cross of Saint Ciricus may cure them. On the way Robin saves the very ill Lady Margaret after she has been attacked. She is also on her way to the abbey.

She parts with some very information to Friar Tuck during her confession. Lady Margaret is Guy of Gisburne's mother. She also tell Tuck that his father is the Earl of Huntingdon. Gisburne is Robin's half brother.

It turns out that the lepers is Gisburne and his cohorts sent by the Sheriff to steal the cross.

The reveal about Gisburne and Robin is an unexpected twist. At least it will mean that Robin will avoid trying to kill him.

However the episode is rather flawed. Once Gisburne reveals himself to his mother, it is obvious that the Sheriff of Nottingham is behind the theft of Cross of St Ciricus.

Will Scarlett chases after Gisburne like a demented banshee but before you know it. Gisburne has Scarlett bound and gagged on top of a mountain.
