Well they did a good job addressing two life issues. One is seeing your parents age. It is definitely difficult, especially when one doesn't feel that one is getting old. It was pretty funny how Beverly said she felt 63 and there is nothing wrong with that.
And even if one is pro gay rights it can feel weird when a good friend comes out. They showed it in this episode pretty well too. The scene of Nancy telling that she is lesbian was very funny, how she shocked Jackie but joking that she thought they were dating.
