The Divine Profit Church
kevinolzak7 December 2016
"The Reverend Sanford" is F.G.Sanford of the Divine Profit Church, ordained as a genuine minister for the 'divinely profitable' purpose of avoiding property taxes. Aunt Esther raises holy hell at this bit of news, but Fred has a plan: "I'm available for exorcisms, I'll take you somewhere and beat the devil out of ya!" Lamont insists that it's not legal, as a church has to be a corporation. His attorney friend Walter (Darrow Igus) vouches for the validity of the document, advising that it can still backfire. Uncle Woody (Raymond Allen, seventh of nine) is appointed treasurer, Bubba the secretary, Fred's intention to make a killing by charging for bake sales, bingo, arts and crafts, weddings and funerals. Trouble arises when 'the very wrong Reverend Sanford' is confronted by Bishop Lovelace (Sammy Shore), the mail order perpetrator who heads the Divine Profit Church, whose 50% cut means that the junkyard now officially belongs to him. At the 'Chapel in the Junkpile' we see a sermon the Bishop will never forget, requiring a blood sacrifice to appease the 'Junkists!'
