This episode won Michael Richards his first of three Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.
In "The Junior Mint" George (Jason Alexander) invests in a triangular sculpture thinking its artist is on the brink of death and once he has expired the value of the sculpture will automatically increase. However, the artist makes a startling recovery and George is stuck with the piece. In later episodes the statue can be seen in different places throughout George's apartment, and, perhaps as a inside joke, so too can other triangular motifs (i.e. a baseball pennant).
When George comes to Jerry's apartment and introduces himself to Delores he's carrying several video cassettes. The one on the top is Pretty Woman (1990), in which Jason Alexander played a supporting role.
When Elaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) talks about her friend's condition in the hospital, she says "prognosis negative." This was the name of a the fictional movie she and Jerry (Jerry Seinfeld) wanted to see in episode 3.4, The Dog (1991).
