An above average episode

Ok, so this episode might not rank as one of the best in the shows long run, but compared to some episodes (or the whole of S12) it's a great one.

I liked the premise (Bart and Lisa in the same class), and there's some great gags along the way. I especially liked Milhouse being promoted to being the new Bart.

Another strong entry to S14.

Weakest Episode of the Fourteenth Season but Not Bad at All,
lesleyharris3015 July 2014
Bart vs Lisa vs the Third Grade is a good Simpsons episode with a good storyline and some very funny scenes. It is without a doubt,in my opinion, the worst episode of the fourteenth season,an episode where Bart and Lisa are in the same class together, taking their sibling rivalry to the next level, had so much more potential, but it ended up being a very average Simpsons.I liked the beginning of the episode very much, where Bart and Homer can't stop watching television.as they parody shows such as Friends and Robot Wars, but I thought the episode got very weak and less entertaining once Bart and Lisa went on their school trip.Bart vs Lisa vs the Third Grade isn't the finest Simpsons episode, but it's still a funny and enjoyable one.

Bart and Lisa's sibling rivalry is put to the test when Bart is pushed back and Lisa is pushed forward to the third grade.

Made me relive my childhood trauma
noodcelebs4free29 July 2020
When I was in the 3rd grade, one of my friends started crying for some reason (ADHD, so I wasn't paying attention at all, as per the usual for me as a kid). My teacher scolded her, saying that 3rd graders don't cry and if she wanted to cry she could go back to 2nd grade. This, as expected, only made her cry even harder.

Was talking about things from our childhood with some friends and asked them if they had a 3rd grade teacher who told them that crying was not allowed. No one had any idea what I was talking about, so I explained the basic premise of this episode and mentioned the part where the teacher tells Lisa that there's no crying in the 3rd grade. As a child, I assumed that this was a universal thing for all 3rd grade teachers everywhere, but as my friends pointed out it is not.

After explaining this, one of my friends said that The Simpsons were airing episodes in 1991, and suggested that perhaps my teacher saw The Simpsons episode and ripped it off. And so I came to this page, only to see it had originally aired on November in the year 2002. I had only just started 3rd grade at that point. Because the episode itself caused me to make the conclusion, it can be inferred that my teacher did NOT see the episode before reprimanding my friend. Therefore I want to give this episode a rock solid 10/10 for doing its trademark Simpsons future-telling magic. However, it made me think back to my childhood, and I had purposely locked away all memories of my life before the 11th grade due to personal trauma, so I have to take a point for making me relive my personal nightmares.
