The pile of dismembered Borg seen on the disabled cube was actually a twelve-inch pile of Playmates Toys action figures.
The Borg costumes, makeup appliances and set pieces in this episode (and many other episodes) were reused from Star Trek: First Contact (1996). Due to financial issues, the makers of Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987) always felt impaired in fully realizing their vision of the Borg, but the bigger budget available for First Contact finally enabled them to improve the look of the Borg. This explains much of the discrepancies in appearance of the Borg between The Next Generation and Voyager.
This episode is the first time more than one Borg Cube has ever been seen on screen.
This episode has one of the shortest teasers in Star Trek, at just under twenty seconds and with only a single (unfinished) line of dialogue spoken by the Borg.
