The SGC has problem to engage the Stargate and soon they discover that the Russian have found the first Stargate lost on Thor's spacecraft on the bottom of the sea. Further, they have built their own Stargate Command. However they are facing problems in the operation of the Stargate that are affecting also the American one. Therefore the SG-1 is invited to team-up with the Russian scientist Dr. Svetlana Markov to help her to fix the problem. They fly and parachute onto a Russian base and they find the crew dead and the sample of water they had taken from the planet missing. Jack, Sam, Daniel and Teal'c are impressed how the Russian have been able to acquire the technology so fast. But soon Jack finds the responsible alive in a refrigerating chamber while Dr. Markov, Sam and Daniel use a minisubmarine to explore the mysterious water.
"Watergate" is a terrible episode of Stargate SG-1. The idea of an American monopoly of the Stargate technology is irritating, especially when the SGC mentions the American president as responsible for the world in agreements with aliens. But it is an entertaining American show and therefore these references are "acceptable". But the inclusion of Russian in the show through the plan of a traitor is awful. My vote is five.
