The funniest episode to date
SleepTight66627 June 2009
Warning: Spoilers
The funniest episode to date, very clever and so much fun to watch. The casting was fantastic, Margaret was just gorgeous. Even as a Zombie.

This episode is all about a rich guy that wanted money from an even richer woman, he summoned an old flame that was into voodoo to create a powerful spell for him. One that would make Margaret want to be with him forever. And she died, even after death.

One of the funniest parts was the sudden decapitation, this show can do black humor so well.

The ending was very fitting, easily one of the most memorable episodes to date.

Good tale from the crypt.
poolandrews3 April 2007
Warning: Spoilers
Tales from the Crypt: 'Til Death is set on a tropical Caribbean island where Logan Andrews (D.W. Moffett) is having money trouble so when a rich English woman named Margaret Richardson (Pamela Gien) turns up he senses an opportunity to make some money quickly. However Margaret isn't interested in him or his problems so Logan turns to a Voodoo priestess named Psyche (Jane Hubert) who gives him a love potion but warns him to use only one drop, like an idiot Logan uses the whole bottle which kills Margaret. Logan thought that would be the end of it but Margaret really does love him & she's not going to let a little thing like death stop her having him...

This Tales from the Crypt story was episode 4 from season 2, directed by Chris Walas I really liked 'Til Death. The script by Jeri Barchilon was based on a story from 'The Vault of Horror' comic book & has that dark comic tone about it that many of the best tales from the Crypt episodes do, this one moves along at a nice pace, it never bores & it has a great twist ending. Centering on Voodoo which in itself isn't particularly original this is one of my favourite episodes, out of the ones I've seen anyway & I'd say it's definitely worth a watch.

As usual it looks pretty good, it has decent production values & it's well made. There's some gore here, there's a decapitation & a really cool zombie in various stages of decay until it's just about a skeleton. The acting was alright.

'Til Death is another top tale from the crypt, recommended.

Enjoyably twisted episode
Woodyanders7 February 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Unscrupulous gold digger Logan Andrews (well played to the smoothly slimy hilt by D.W. Moffett) seeks the aid of voodoo priestess Psyche (an excellent performance by Janet Hubert) to connect a love potion so he can win the hand of rich and sexy, but high-strung widow Margaret Richardson (deliciously portrayed to bitchy perfection by the lovely Pamela Gien). Director Chris Walas, working from a blithely warped script by Jeff Barchilon, makes the most out of the tangy and balmy tropical island setting, relates the story at quick pace, and deftly mines a fiendishly funny strain of gleefully ghoulish gallows humor (Margaret dies, but comes back as a pesky and decomposing lust-crazed zombie!). The make-up f/x are supremely gross and effective, with a juicy decapitation rating as the grisly splatter highlight. Kudos are also in order for the fine acting by the sturdy cast: Moffett and Grien do sterling work in the leads, with bang-up support from Hubert and Aubrey Morris as affable doctor Freddy. Both John R. Leonetti's polished cinematography and Nicholas Pike's throbbing tribal score are up to snuff. A pleasingly sick hoot.

One Drop, she'll be your wife...
mattressman_pdl8 May 2011
D.W. Moffett stars as Logan, an unscrupulous con-man who discovers that his newest venture is a total washout. He smells a ludicrous scheme in attempting to seduce a wealthy, uptight woman. For that, he may just need some voodoo. The love potion works, obviously, too well as Logan finds her love truly undying.

This episode may be a little tacky and the acting is a tad hammy, but there's some nice bloody moments and even a chuckle here or there. It won't scare even the most timid viewer, but I thought it was fun enough and was suited to the EC world.

Trivia: Aubrey Morris, who plays Logan's partner, would appear later in the crypt universe in Tales From the Crypt Presents: Bordello of Blood.

This thing scared the living daylights out of me years ago!
AlsExGal10 June 2017
Tales from the Crypt was an HBO show that was a sort of spin off of the 1972 film of the same name. They also had at least one subplot in common. But by and large the episodes were original ones, and this one scared me to death when I saw it, so much so that I remember the entire plot.

So you can probably see what is coming, it is in the actual playing out of the plot that comes the reward and the chills and in this case, even some laughs. The setting is an island in the Caribbean. Logan Andrews is trying to develop real estate on some land when the news comes that the land is a swamp and he is ruined once word gets out. Logan sees an opportunity in the beautiful heiress Margaret Richardson to get some bucks out of her, but she is cold as ice to Logan an is completely disinterested in him.

But Logan is determined. He goes to his old lover, a voodoo priestess he threw over because of the differences in their class and race that he figured would not suit the upscale lifestyle he was going for. He asks for a love potion to make Margaret love him so he can marry her and raid her trust fund and get himself out of the financial trouble he is in. But never tick off a voodoo priestess and then ask for a favor, because more than likely her potion has a loophole big enough to hang you or worse. I'll let you see how this all plays out, but I will tell you it is terribly horrifying.

this is a true tales from the crypt story
sharkattack19782 April 2007
This is the most chilling of all the tales from the crypt stories. This has one killer twist in it where you find out just how long love can last. This is my all time favourite story and it still chills me and creeps me out too. If you have never watched a tales from the crypt story and want to start with one that explains exactly the greatness of the horror nd the terrifying twists then you got to see Til Death. It isn't for the faint hearted though so be warned. This is TRUE tales from the crypt just like the graphic comic books, just how it should be. Oh yeah one more important thing to say to you all: never ever play with voodoo and definitely be very careful not to P*** off a voodoo witchdoctor, you never know what they could do to you.

"Your honey-bunny wants a kiss!"
More pure Crypt gold from second season, and for me this is such a classic and timeless episode. It's humorously creepy, gross, and it has a fantastic sense of pace and momentum that leads up to one of the best ever finales. The special effects are also a real highlight and were excellently done and a huge part of why it's such a gleefully ghoulish and fun tale. "Til Death" is similar to season three's "Loved to Death", with a plot that involves a love slave potion that goes horribly wrong, but it's also significantly different and I think slightly better. This is one unique magic zombie feature the director Chris Wallis made here. I can't really see any similarities with his other two movies, except perhaps the body deterioration of Fly 2. I love the perfectly wiseass D.W Moffett as the quintessential goldigging weasel. I found him really funny but I couldn't feel any sympathy at all for his character, even if he wasn't one of the worst ever villains to appear on the show. Sure he was unscrupulous and possibly a bit violent, but he didn't kill anybody. Still he really shouldn't have screwed around with the voodoo queen... I liked Janet Hubert's performance as the fiery and vengeful voodoo priestess lady pulls all of Logan's strings and leads him straight to hell - oh perhaps even something that's "far worse!!!" I think the best thing about "Til Death" is undoubtedly the great and hilarious performance of Pamela Glen, her transformation from elegant haughty snob to walking undead nightmare is amazing. She's like a mix of an original voodoo somnambulist type zombie and one of the Return of the living Dead creations. The scene where she bursts from her grave is a great little moment, looking like something straight out of a one of those wonderful old comics with the beautiful blue spooky lighting and everything, I really love that part.. She's so freaking hysterical in the scene as she talks to Logan in that out of it and bizarrely sultry way, and when she chases Logan through the jungle, calling out to him with her curiously still clear sing-song voice! When she gets to the stage where she's almost all skeleton, I think she looks a bit like the charred Chucky from Child's Play, and the ending where he's about to be kissed by a skeleton with a tongue was simply perfect and awesome, it's so funny and disgusting, I just love it to death!!! This is one great episode of Tales from the Crypt if ever there was one. If not for at least one great performance, then definitely for the special effects. I love these, they're like perfect little time capsules. I don't care if it's another twenty years from now, I'll never forget them, they will never lose their sweet horror magic to me. No bones about that! X

Probably the most disgusting episode in the show to date
bellino-angelo201413 June 2021
The story is set in an island in the Caribbean. Landowner Logan Andrews woos the wealthy and snobbish Margaret Richardson for financing a project of development on the land. Since she refuses his advances he asks help to voodoo priestess Psyche that gives him a potion of which he should put only a drop of it for making the woman fall in love with him. At first he succedds; but before the second appointment he puts nearly all the potion in the glass and she is like obsessed with him! He shoots her, only for her returning from under the ground. And here we are introduced to some of the grossest imagery that has probably ever seen in the entire show as Margaret is a corpse falling to pieces that chases Logan. And the final scenes with Margaret's skeleton that exits her tongue in the attempt of kissing Logan nearly made me gag.

Even tho you are into the show like I am at the moment, if you are a person subject to feel queasy at sights of corpses, avoid this episode for your own health!

A deadly dose of black tumor--I mean, humor
Pythe5 June 2007
Another reviewer mentioned that this episode had a predictable plot, but I think that's really missing the point. The highlight of this episode is a sense of humor as black as the voodoo that resurrects the leading lady, after dispensing of her in the first place. Not to mention the disgusting imagery. True love tends to lose its appeal when blushing bride turns fetid fiancé. Then again, the protagonist was such a slime ball that we don't feel too sorry for him. Check this episode out for a classic EC plot point--the resurrected victim! (Indeed, this is the first time the grueling Gaines trademark was used in the series.)

Pretty good.
shellytwade29 March 2022
There seems to be a lot of episodes that are pretty similar to this one but this is one of the best ones of this style. The makeup of Tales is always top notch and even if you don't like the episode you can appreciate the work they do there.

A voodoo themed episode, that's pretty poor due to it's weak star power.
blanbrn24 April 2007
"Til Death" is not one of the better crypt episodes, it simply doesn't have any known stars, and the plot is too predictable and I really don't care for the voodoo theme. Well anyway you have two people I've never heard of that being Pamela Glen and D.W. Moffett who star with the setting taking place at a land plantation. But a new secret plan this tricky new developer who needs money to buy the new land can only get his inheritance from a millionaire princess. Well now you guessed it that's right voodoo time! Just go to the old potion and witch doctors for help to land Mrs. right! And the voodoo works only to end up being terrible with the bride as a never ending occult! Really a pretty weak episode of "Tales" with a predictable plot and little action or drama and it really hurts not having any star power. So pass on this episode.

Warning: Spoilers
"Ah! Welcome to my cozy crypt. Have I got a story for you! A tacky, tropical tale of love and lust, greed and ghouls, and my personal favorite - death! But I'm warning you, it's not a pretty picture. So, pack up your passport and prepare for this torrid tale of putrification in paradise. I'm sure you'll find it appealing."

If you're going to get a love potion to win over someone that doesn't love you, don't ask your ex-girlfriend voodoo queen to do it.

Logan Andrews (D. W. Moffett) once was with Psyche (Janet Hubert), the voodoo woman whose family's land he stole. Now he's in love with Margaret Richardson (Pamela Gien) but she's not interested. That's why he needs some help. Psyche says, "One drop and she will be your wife but two drops and she will be yours for life."

Logan treats this magic like I do edibles and when it doesn't seem to take right away, he gives her more. That's how you end up screaming into a TV set, sure that you're going to die. At least from drugs. Here, Margaret croaks - well, Psyche does have a doll of her - and professes her undying love before she, you know, died.

Happily, she comes back from the dead but she's starting to rot. Not even killing himself will get Logan away from her, as Psyche has cursed him to be chased by a skeleton that wants to have sex with him for the rest of his life. Or forever. Probably forever, right?

Directed by Chris Walas (the director of The Fly II and The Vagrant, as well as a special effects expert) and written by Jeri Barchilon and Steven Dodd, this is a quick and grisly outing.

It's based on the story "Till Death" from The Vault of Horror #28, which was written by Al Feldstein and William Gaines and drawn by Johnny Craig.
