This is directed to "sandcrab277": clearly, that individual is incapable of enjoying an old TV series for its entertainment value and is unable to separate the writer's and director's perspective from that of the actor playing the role. One can but hope that that reviewer confined his or her comments to this one entity.
As to the series itself, it was much better suited to the half-hour format and did not adapt well to stretching it's usually crisp story line over a span of fifty-odd minutes.
