- Titus's insecurities kick in when he is asked to design a car for Ford.
- A young Ford car executive Nick Galenti (Frankie Muniz) seeks a new design from Titus. Nick is a young boy and is an outside consultant to Ford. Nick wants ideas, but Titus doesn't have any. Titus tries to bully Nick, but Nick is a black belt in Karate and he soon overpowers Titus. He even drops Dave with a single shot to his throat.
Yet, Nick gives Titus a chance when Titus sweet talks him. Nick even offers to double Titus's fee if he can come up with something impressive. This job means a home, and a proper wedding to Erin (where she can invite a lot more people), who is ecstatic. Ken never taught Titus to save any money, as he always said that you are dead by the time you are 52. Ken is 58 and broke.
Dave and Tommy are already dreaming about all the ways that they will be spending their money. The presentation to Nick is due and even after working on it for a week, Titus has nothing. Erin panics as she already made an offer on a big house. She blames Tommy and Dave for making noise, as Titus likes to have complete silence while working on a new design. Titus made 20 drawings but burnt them all as he didn't think they were good enough. Titus has lost all confidence in himself and says that he has no good ideas left in him. In his head he could see Ken criticizing each one of his drawings. Titus says he knows how to design a car for one person but doesn't know how to design a car to satisfy 300 million customers. He fears that only 1 car would be sold and the remaining millions of cars would have to be given away at steep discounts.
Erin calls in Ken to fix Titus. Erin wants compassion and sympathy from Ken. Nothing but gentle understanding. Ken refuses, but Erin gets irate and pushes Ken into Titus's office to help resolve the situation.
Ken decides to pretend that Titus is a woman that he is trying to get to have sex with him. That is the only way he will talk to Titus and listen to what he has to say. Titus turns to Ken for inspiration when he hits a creative block. Titus says that Ken always berated him and even though he had 20 drawings made, he burnt them as he didn't know if they would meet Ken's approval
Ken re-iterates that the only reason he was tough on Titus was because he loved him. Every time Ken berates Titus, he is only showing his love to his son. Titus finally understands the years of abuse he took from Ken and his inner conflict is resolved. He knows that Ken loved him. He believes that all dads berate their sons to get them to grow up into an outstanding human being.
Titus makes the drawings in time for Nick's review. Nick likes the drawings but wants to present them as his own to Ford, taking credit for Titus's work. Titus wants credit for his own work, but Nick threatens to take the drawings from him. Nick throws Titus through the window and walks away with the drawings.
