That old gang of Emmet's
bkoganbing6 January 2020
Shiloh Ranch is having a big cattle sale and that's attracting a lot of attention, particularly from old outlaw Lloyd Nolan. He's got a scheme up his sleeve and Deputy Emmet Ryker knows full well that something is up.

Back in the day as a kid after he became an orphan Clu Gulager spent some time with Nolan, but left. Nolan had a hand in raising him as a kid. But now as Deputy Sheriff he has adult responsibilities.

Lloyd Nolan is one of those actors who is never bad in anything he does and that's true for this episode. The final confrontation scene with Gulager and Nolan is memorable and heartbreaking.

Not an episode to miss.

Family versus duty
Nat-2126 March 2024
Excellent tale that probes themes of family, loyalty and morality. Lloyd Nolan does a bang-up job as Abe Clayton, an ex-con who doesn't want to be reformed. After spending 10 years in prison, he is invited to Medicine Bow by Emmet, the deputy sheriff, who was raised by Abe. Clayton gets the old gang together, which includes a brother, nephew and adopted daughter, along with her outlaw fiancé, played by Bruce Dern, who could do these roles with his eyes closed. When Emmet realizes the old man is up to no good, he does his best to thwart a planned heist, but runs into barriers including his feelings for the man who took him in all those years ago. Good writing and good acting.

Lloyd Nolan - super real
deswind-1506214 April 2022
This episode is worth watching just to see Lloyd Nolan's great acting. The story is pretty good, but it is the acting that makes it. Clu Gulager is no slouch either. I would say more, but I am trying to avoid spoilers. This is a great episode.
