Writer Kenneth H. Hawryliw was originally a prop master on The X-Files (1993) before moving on to Millennium (1996) where he struck up a friendship with writer Jim Guttridge. After hearing Guttridge's pitch for an X-Files episode, the two decided to work together on this episode.
The name "Trevor" is not mentioned until almost 34 minutes into the episode.
Despite the fact that Rawls is an escaped prisoner, at no point during the episode are the US Marshals seen, even though they are the Federal agency tasked with tracking & re-capturing escaped prisoners.
Both John Diehl and Catherine Dent worked in the FX show The Shield (2002) a few years later. Dent starred as Police Officer Danny Sofer and Diehl recurrently guest starred Assistant Police Chief Ben Gilroy.
The villains name is Pinker, which is also the name of the villian Mitch Pileggi played in Wes Craven's 1989 movie 'Shocker'. Mitch Pileggi plays Skinner in the X Files.
