Life Among the Gorillas (#1.17)

Warning: Spoilers
So I was wrong, they actually went on showing us the long distance issues of Ted and Victoria. Not a good idea. It is indeed horribly boring, including for the people who are watching. And I am also not a fan to see the cliché story of the guy being into a girl and when he finds somebody else that girl is suddenly all into him. It was OK when it first started in let's say Friends, now it is overused.

But I did like the story about Marshall. I like his character now even more when I found out how he is into environment. And they touch a great topic on having to go against one's beliefs because of money from time to time. But oh please I hope he will be an environmental lawyer! Those guys he works with are indeed to gross for him.

A So So Episode

A very so so episode

Plot In A Paragraph: After a month of long-distance-relationship with Victoria (Ashley Williams), she's already sent Ted (Josh Radnor) three care packages full of stuff he likes, but he hasn't sent her any. Marshall (Jason Segel) works in Barney's (Neil Patrick Harris) office and doesn't like it all or the people he works with, but Barney talks him into keeping the job. Marshall decides that it will be easier to work in the office if he adapts to the people he is working with and gets some "get psyched" training from Barney.

As a fan of Victoria, I was not thrilled with the way that she was wrote out. In fact I was annoyed. There is not much to like in this episode. Neil Patrick Harris is always fun as Barney, and I enjoyed the Karaoke bar scene, in fact that was the best scene in the episode. Whilst it's a change to have Robin (Cobie Smulders) lusting after Ted (Josh Radnor) she pulls it off with more dignity than Ted managed during his pining phase.

Jason Segel and Alyson Hannigan were excellent in this episode.

Entertaining Set-up for the Climax of Season 1

It's no secret that the end of this episode sets up Ted and Robin's arc for the remainder of the season. While most sitcoms may choose to fill it with nonsense, this show decides to fill it by defining characters who desperately needed something more. The disconnect between Marshall's dream, the way he sees himself getting there, and Lily's expectations of her husband-to-be also sets up their arc for the end of season 1 very well.

A lot of environmentalism

This is one of my favorite shows of all time but this is one of my least favorite. You'd think Marshall would figure out his idol was completely wrong; just like most environmentalists.
