- A monumental attack from Lrrr of Omicron Persei 8 is precipitated by the loss of a television signal that Fry disrupted in 1999.
- The Omicrons threaten to destroy the earth if they can't see the last episode of a lost 20th Century television series "Single Female Lawyer" starring an unmarried human female, who wears very short miniskirts, struggling to succeed in a human man's world. Because the last episode was destroyed by someone spilling beer on the transmitter (Fry), the crew from Planet Express must deliver their version of "Single Female Lawyer."
- Prologue: New York, 1999
Fry makes a delivery of a pizza and some beer to a Fox affiliate. The man taking delivery of the order also gives Fry one of the beers, and as they watch an episode playing of the show "Single Female Lawyer," Fry accidentally spills beer on the transmitter, ruining the transmission. The man running the console is in a panic, but Fry just scoffs at this, wondering what the worst that can happen is.
*Present day (aka The Year 3000)*
The Planet Express Crew takes a break and goes to a man-made beach to relax where numerous world monuments now reside. Suddenly, the tranquility is broken as spaceships from the planet Omicron Persei 8 appear, laying waste to the monuments along the beach.
President McNeil demands to know what the aliens want, and is given a message that the aliens 'want McNeil.' The President refuses to hand himself over, and the world goes to war with the Omicronians. However, the attempt only ends up destroying the Hubble Telescope.
In the aftermath, Zapp Brannigan ends up knocking out the President and handing him over to the Omicronians. However, they claim that the President is not who they are looking for (before they disintegrate him). The Omicronians then state that they are actually looking for Jenny McNeil, the 'Single Female Lawyer.'
The Planet Express Crew do some research, and find that due to the second coming of Jesus, no copies of the show still exist. They then put on their own show to stop the Omicronians from planning to raise the Earth's temperature by 1,000,000 degrees a day (for 5 days).
The Omicronians tune in, with Leela playing the role of Jenny McNeil. However, Fry's 2 pages of dialogue derail the show, and Leela improvises her character deciding to give the law and marry the judge. A transmission is then sent by the Omicronians that this character change 'scares' them, and they demand she return to being a 'single female lawyer.'
The show ends with these demands met, and the Omicronians leave the planet.
