Quotes
-
Cathy Lane : Alright, let's figure out the kind of girl that would be least likely to appeal to him. He's a long-haired musician.
Richard Harrison : A long-haired musician. Well then, Patty can act herself.
Patty Lane : Well, we really gotta make him head for the hills.
Cathy Lane : He probably likes someone who's scholarly, likes serious books, art, the theater, the classics. All you have to do is be opposite.
Patty Lane : That's not hard. That's the real me.
Cathy Lane : Alright, let's rehearse it. You really have to frighten him away tomorrow night. Richard, you be David.
Richard Harrison : David, huh? I don't even like his name.
Cathy Lane : I'll be your mother.
[Pretending to be Patty's mother]
Cathy Lane : Good evening, David, it's so nice of you to come. This is my daughter Patty.
[Introducing the two]
Cathy Lane : Patty, David.
Richard Harrison : I'm very happy to make your acquaintance. I heard a great deal about you.
Patty Lane : Duhhuh.
Cathy Lane : Tell me, have you read any good books lately, David?
Richard Harrison : Oh, yes indeed. I just finished reading 'The Odyssey'.
Patty Lane : I read the sequel: 'The Evenssey'
[feigns laughter and smacks Richard in the stomach]
Patty Lane : Ha Ha Ha, get it. Cathy, pretty good, huh?
Richard Harrison : Have you seen any good plays lately?
Patty Lane : Yeah, Gonzales tagged Mickey Mantle out in the top of the ninth with bases loaded.
[feigns laughter and smacks Richard again]
Patty Lane : Ha-Ha-Ha-Ha-Ha-Ha.
Richard Harrison : This is a rehearsal, Patty.
Patty Lane : Oh.
Cathy Lane : Tell me, ah, are you fond of Gluck?
Patty Lane : Only if it has a lot of cream and sugar on it.
Cathy Lane : That should frighten him away.
Patty Lane : [Starts to smack Richard again, but checks her swing, laughting] I can't wait till tomorrow night.
