While Alf has a rant about trying to get some pickled onions out of a jar. Bert invites himself in from next door with his plate of dinner.
Bert has had enough of Min's whining. They have had a row, she is off to her mother's. Bert wants to spend time with Alf instead.
That does not stop Min bringing pudding for Bert before she goes off to see her mother.
Later Alf and Bert discuss the role of the wife in the pub. Such as having a loan or transfer system for wives like they do in football. Much to Rita's horror.
I get the feeling that rehearsals with Bert moaning about his marital strife at the dinner table was a riot at rehearsals. I could not decide if Warren Mitchell and the rest were corpsing or it was all in the script. Especially when it is implied that Bert and Min have never been intimate while married.
Great final line when Min returns home and finds that Bert is not alone in bed.
