Following the impressive success of the original low-budget horror movie, The Haunting in Connecticut, Lionsgate have returned to bring us the sequel, The Haunting in Connecticut 2: Ghosts of Georgia, which is also loosely based on a true story.
Abigail Spencer (Oz the Great and Powerful, Cowboys & Aliens) takes the lead this time around as Lisa, starring alongside Chad Michael Murray, Morgana Shaw, Emily Alyn Lind, Cicely Tyson, Grant James, and Katee Sackhoff.
From the producers of The Haunting In Connecticut comes the chilling true story of the Wyrick family.
1993. The Wyrick family – Lisa, Andy and their young daughter Heidi, pack up and move from Atlanta to their own modest home in the country outside tiny Pine Mountain, Georgia. Upon moving into their new home, mother and daughter begin experiencing disturbing visions. Lisa has long struggled with strange visions, which she keeps at bay through medication, and the family hopes...

He has played the drums on albums by the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Captain Beefheart. He once drummed for 72 hours without stopping. He has worked on almost a dozen Steven Soderbergh films. Cliff Martinez is… the most interesting film composer in the world. No, seriously. You can keep your Howard Shores and your Hans Zimmers. We bet they would have given Nicolas Winding Refn's “Drive” a thudding, portentous action-movie soundtrack; it took Martinez to see that what it somehow needed was a sickly sheen of 80s electronica, both in new pieces written by him and provided the likes of Chromatics, Kavinsky, Desire and more. It was a decision brilliant enough to get him a gig on Refn's “Only GodForgives,” which Martinez added his own throbbing score alongside selections of Thai pop.Now Martinez has opened up about his next project, the score for a French action movie—described as “Die Hard” meets “Taken,...

Following the success of the The Haunting in Connecticut, a sequel to the 2009 horror is set to arrive in theatres early next year, with a surprisingly impressive leading cast. The Haunting in Connecticut 2: Ghosts of Georgia will see Chad Michael Murray, Katee Sackhoff, and Abigail Spencer star in the leads, and now the first trailer and poster have debuted online.
The original didn’t earn exceptional reviews, but it did take almost $80m. at the box office, which is an impressive feat for pretty much any horror, and here’s to hoping the sequel will tap into some of that success.
“When Andy Wyrick moves his wife Lisa and daughter Heidi to an historic home in Georgia, they quickly discover they are not the house’s only inhabitants. Joined by Lisa’s free-spirited sister, Joyce, the family soon comes face-to-face with a bone-chilling mystery born of a deranged desire…...

Patty Schemel is best remembered as the drummer of the alternative rock group Hole, fronted by erstwhile alt-queen rocker, now-notorious loudmouth Courtney Love. For top level context, Schemel laid the thunderous beat on both of Hole’s most popular and well-known records, including 1994’s Live Through This, which was released just four days after frontwoman Courtney Love's husband, Kurt Cobain, was found dead in their home. This is all well-documented. What only the most hardcore of rock aficionados will remember was that Schemel’s drum parts on 1997’s follow-up record Celebrity Skin were replaced by a session drummer at the behest of producer Michael Beinhorn (knob-twiddler for records like Soundgarden's Superunknown, Red Hot Chili Peppers' Mother's Milk and Grave Dancers Union by Soul Asylum).
What isn’t well-documented in the career and life of Hole and Schemel -- and this is what “Hit So Hard: The Life...

Up until last year, film festivals had always been a bit of a mystery to me. I had gone to a few conventions before and been shown advanced screenings of films, but to actually go to an event where all you did was watch films seemed a bit beyond my reach. Didn’t help either that I had never really lived in areas with affordable or frequent festivals. That is, up until last year when I was introduced to AFI Fest. They hooked me in with free tickets and the promise of engaging cinema from around the world. To say I had fun is a bit of an understatement. As the credits to the last film rolled, I decided that I would come back next year in a more professional manner and write about it.

Ever since I saw it over in Cannes earlier this year, Drive has imprinted itself indelibly upon my psyche as one of the most effortlessly cool flicks of not only this year but any year. It is a curio of the highest order, consciously refusing generic traditions and reinventing the way tone and subject matter coexist on screen in a manner that is both jarring and hugely affecting.
The official soundtrack, by former Red Hot Chilli Peppers drummer Cliff Martinez follows the trend set by the film itself, hopping genres effortlessly, but retaining a fundamental linked essence through every track that builds up an identity as important to the film as Ryan Gosling’s Driver himself. Within the space of just nineteen tracks

Nicolas Windfing Refn’s part heist movie/part slick car thriller/part Grindhouse gore fest Drive, which I saw premiere in Cannes and fell in love with 2/3rd’s of it (but hated the final act) has an immediately striking musical tone that has a warm & fuzzy feel… one that that relaxes you. The opening of the movie is like a late night road trip home, slightly melancholy and longing but tunes that understand and comfort. The opening credits play to these Eurosynth-styled songs, which along with the vibrant pinks and Miami Vice inspired skylines, gives off a very 80′s feel to what is a 70′s inspired film.
I loved the music from the film more than anything else and Lakeshore Records will release Drive: The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack in the U.S. on September 13th on the same day as Film District release the movie (it will...

The Drive soundtrack. ‘Cool’ is a quality that, of course, translates into influence, a point soon to be underlined once again by cool-as-a-snow-cone automotive actioner Drive when audiences finally get the chance to catch it from next month. But while Ryan Gosling’s nameless stunt-cum-getaway wheel-man is certainly a dude with all the right moves, likely to have impressionable viewers revving their motors and yes, even donning driving gloves in imitation of his antics, it is the soundtrack of Drive, even more than its central protagonist, which is perhaps likely to exert the most potent effect upon audiences.
Because although there are more potential criteria by which to judge a film’s soundtrack than there are edits in a Michael Bay action scene, maybe the most telling is if you come out of the movie as eager to get your grubby paws on the showcased music as Wilford Wolf always...

A veteran director and producer of cable television (Wicked Wicked Games, Desire), P. David Ebersole’s rock doc Hit So Hard is a typical booze-and-drug-filled profile of his friend and collaborator Patty Schemel, the original drummer for the seminal grunge band Hole, who fell on hard times after the always controversial rock band’s heyday.
Filmmaker: How did you first conceive of Hit So Hard?
Ebersole: My friend Patty Schemel brought me a gold box, filled with 40-plus hours of never-before-seen video footage from when she was on tour with her band Hole. She shot the tape on Hi-8 and was afraid it would disintegrate soon, so she came asking for advice about how to best preserve it. Despite Zack Silva's second-degree black belt in kenpo, a Japanese-Hawaiian form of martial arts, he has yet to play an action hero. He has, however, played good guy Alex Thomas on MyNetworkTV's limited-run series "Desire" and is currently playing the morally ambiguous figure Gavin on FX's crime drama "Terriers."These nonaction roles are far from the Jean-Claude Van Damme types that Silva fantasized about playing when he was a kid. But his background has served him well even in roles that don't require leaping and kicking. Besides skill and dexterity, martial arts demand plain old showmanship, he says, especially at the kind of demonstrations and tournaments that Silva participated in throughout adolescence. "Doing martial arts gave me a firm foundation, confidence, and strength as a performer," he explains. "The idea of discipline was instilled in me, and I approach acting with the same discipline I learned in martial arts.

It seems to be a morning for haunting stories. Charlize Theron is setting up Two Eyes Staring, and The Haunting in Georgia has its first cast member, in the diminutive form of Emily Alyn Lind.Following on from The Haunting in Connecticut, Georgia tells another story loosely based on a supposedly real happening, with another family in another state undergoing more supernatural shenanigans in a new home. It'd directed by Tom Elkins (who edited Connecticut) and written by David Coggeshall (head writer on TV series' Watch Over Me and Desire). If Emily's the main focus of the haunting, then it looks as if the film, with such a young protagonist, is trying for a Shining / Poltergeist vibe. Not an unreasonable ambition. The young actress (daughter of director John Lind and actress Barbara Alyn Woods) has Eastwick, Medium and All My Children on her TV CV, and movie-wise was previously in The Secret Life of Bees.

Have you seen Eclipse yet? Before you do, maybe you should read what the critics have to say about the latest chapter in the Twilight saga!
The reviews are in! At the stroke of midnight, Eclipse premiered in hundreds of theaters across the country, and with it came some mixed reviews from critics. Although reviewers aren’t unanimously raving about the film, many seem to agree that if you’re a Twi-hard, you’ll definitely enjoy it! Here’s what some top film reviewers thought of Eclipse:
“The Twilight Saga: Eclipse is like some broodingly repressed wide-screen youth-pop melodrama from the 1950s — and I mean that as a compliment. The story, at heart, is earnest and humorless teen romantic glop, but its feelings aren’t fake, and the movie is compulsively watchable; it has a passionflower intensity.” — Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly “Desire might as well...

HollywoodNews.com: In a recent interview on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, star Ashley Greene talked about her path to acting and to Twilight. Beginning with her Christian upbringing in Jacksonville, Greene described convincing her mother to let her attend an alternative high school, and convincing her again to let her move to Los Angeles to pursue acting.
“I get very passionate about things,” said Greene of her high school career. “I wanted to go to a magnet school that specialized in law and psychology. I wanted to be a lawyer. Well…I thought I wanted to be a lawyer. I found out—thank God—that I liked the act of them on trials, I kind of liked being up there in front of the class and pretending to be a lawyer. What better field to go into if you want to pretend to be a lawyer than acting?...

Ashley Greene's cinematic path hasn't been gradual. It all started with a couple one-ep stints on a few shows, a gig on a quickly vaporized show called Desire, time as a McDonald's customer in King of California, an uncredited moment on Shark, and playing Kim #4 in Otis. Then everything changed. She put on the superstylish clothes, added a pixie hop to her step, and starting divining the future on the Twilight series. Now she's got a handful of movies under her belt, and is circling her next starring gig.

The actress is in talks to star in The Apparition, Dark Castle's latest supernatural horror that will, most likely, wrench her out of sparkles and overprotective families. MyNetworkTV is considering cutting back on its strategy of "all telenovelas, all the time," sources said.
The network, which launched Sept. 5, has a schedule comprising two 13-week drama strips, with new episodes airing Monday-Friday and hourlong recaps airing Saturday.
But in light of underwhelming ratings for the dramas, network executives are exploring other options, which could include reducing the number of nights on which the dramas air or throwing nondrama series programming into the mix, sources said.
The first two dramas, Desire and the Bo Derek-Morgan Fairchild starrer Fashion House, each averaged a 0.7 household rating/1 share over their 13-week run.
The newest dramas -- Wicked Wicked Games, starring Tatum O'Neal, and Watch Over Me, starring Casper Van Dien and Catherine Oxenberg -- debuted Dec. 6. In their first week on the air (a partial week consisting of three days because the shows debuted on a Wednesday), Games averaged a 0.7/1 among households, while Watch averaged a 0.6/1.
As for any possible on-air changes, it's believed there's no timetable for a potential revamping of the programming strategy.
