I think this show has potential.

I disagree with the previous comment. I liked it and think it will get better. Yes the acting isn't perfect but who is with a brand new character? In a series the characters get better with age. The different plot lines are interesting and the interaction with the characters are OK. The doctor falling into a practice here with a British East Indian look at Canadian "melting pot" life is a fresh look at ourselves. (I live in the lower mainland where this is set.) I am looking forward to more episodes to see where they can develop and grow. I have seen other Canadian shows and have not seen as much potential as this one.

Racist and Boring

I had heard about this show and thought that it might sound interesting so I tuned in. I was never more offended or bored in my life. The characters are cliché. They are simply the worst of racial stereotypes. The acting was bad, again because the actors had a bad script to deal with. East Indians are depicted as being anti-white and ultra traditional. Asian women depicted as gold diggers and white people as slutty dummies. I also don't see why everybody was chasing after that Indian doctor either. He wasn't handsome, charming or interesting. And the scene where the young Indian girl was beaten for wanting to wear shorts and play field hockey?! I have no idea what the writers of this show were thinking but I think that everybody involved in the making of this show should never be allowed to write or create another TV show again.

49th and Main TV show

Wow, what a great show. I happened to catch it by chance and it is absolutely great. This is what is required to help us understand the problems different people face daily in this multicultural society. The social problems faced by men, women, and children are real and need to be brought out for discussions. I think this show can do a lot for the youth and the problems they are facing. I liked the humor and one liners. I like the little boy, though I think they are all good. I especially liked the girl who got into Harvard but did not go, she is pretty darned cute too. There is an undercurrent and I look forward to finding out the cause. Todays episode was great, I will be watching all the pilot episodes, and hope the this show will become a permanent fixture. I congratulate CBC for backing this show, and hope they continue with it.

OK, so I saw the last episode yesterday. What a great show, can someone tell me how to contact CBC and ask/beg/plead with them to pick up this show. I really want to know what happened to Raj? I can only guess at it, but I hope it is more than that. I do hope this show is picked up, I really liked it.
