The series was produced for over two years, with the idea first put forward in the beginning of 2004. After months of research and negotiations with the experts later featured in the program, filming started in the spring of 2005, and the premiere in March 2006.
Thirty-three hours of interviews were shot for the series. Since many hours of material did not get into the aired episodes because of time constraints, a DVD release including much of the extra footage was considered by the show's creators. However, the DVD was delayed as the recession set in, and the interview tapes were erased a few years later, rendering a future release impossible.
