It's actually pretty decent....until the last couple of episodes

"Australian Celebrity Survivor 2006" is sometimes cited as the worst English-speaking season of Survivor ever produced, but it's not really all THAT bad. For 10 out of its 12 episodes, it plays a lot like the American season Vanuatu (where this one was also filmed!), with an alliance of women methodically dismantling an alliance of men. The production values are about on a par with the very early American seasons; it also gives us a closer look at the tribal custom of the "high dive" than Vanuatu ever did (iirc). Tough Fiona is clearly the star of the early pre-merge; later, Imogen (an actual good Survivor player who would probably do well in a higher-caliber season) and Gabrielle take over. The vibe of the season may be basic and bland, but at least it is never unpleasant or negative. However, in the last couple of episodes a series of terrible - and terribly unfair - twists are introduced; the worst of them being the jury voting somebody out in case of a tie! You could also make an argument against the well-fed voted-out returnees, but the hard truth is, the victims of that twist DID have the opportunity to send at least one of them right back where they came from, and they blew it. The final two episodes are weak, but the season as a whole is more watchable than some of the other lower-tier English-speaking seasons I have seen. I'd give a 7/10 to episodes 1-9 and 6/10 to episodes 10-12.
