Kiefer Sutherland actually looked into the whole background of his character, Raistlin, before showing up on the set to do the recording. He was continuously worried about the pronunciation of the magic spells, so they had to to record multiple takes around his spell casting.

Due to the small budget, getting Kiefer Sutherland to play the voice of Raistlin was a long shot and not really expected to the production crew until the day he said he would do it.
In the mid-1990s, the Jim Henson Company was in talks with TSR, which was the owner of Dungeons and Dragons and also Dragonlance, to produce some type of Dragonlance project. However when TSR was bought out by Wizards of the Coast, the project was dropped.
