Plot; With money tight after the murder of his Uncle, Peter Parker gets a job at the Daily Bugle newspaper. It's there that he learns of the villainous Kingpin's plot to flood the market with fake medication, which actually makes the user more ill.

This second season actually seems to be a reboot and restructuring. The first season lacked any origin story, dropping us right into Spidey and his world fully formed. It also consisted of two, 10 minute episodes. Here the episodes are a more traditional 20-22 minutes, and we got an origin in the season's first episode with this subsequent episode a direct follow up. This newly expanded format has its pluses and minuses. On the plus side, the world feels more fleshed out, and the storytelling is less rushed. On the negative side, this episode was extremely padded out. I'd estimate that fully five minutes of screen time is dedicated to Spider-Man just swinging across the city. It helps that he does it to a jazzy soundtrack, but it starts to feel very much like what it is. Padding.

The stories here so far are much more mature than S1. Here we get Kingpin, whose plot to strong arm pharmacies into selling his fake meds to the elderly is more sophisticated than anything I came across in S1. It needed a tighter focus, but I applaud the attempt at something a bit more refined.
